Your kitchen is about to get a serious upgrade, fast. At nuDoors, we specialize in premium cabinet door and drawer front systems that transform your space without the cost or chaos of a full remodel.
Whether you're working with one of our Certified Installers or your own trusted pro, a little prep on your part helps keep things running smoothly. This guide will walk you through what to expect on cabinet installation day, how to prepare your home, and what happens after your nuDoors are installed and your cabinet frames are professionally refinished.
A Few Days Before Install
Clear Countertops
Remove everything from the surface, appliances, utensils, decor, to give your installer a clean workspace and avoid accidental dust or paint mist contact.
Empty Cabinets & Drawers
Even though most Certified Installers use professional dust extractors and masking systems, some airborne particles and paint mist can still occur. We strongly recommend completely clearing out all cabinet interiors and drawers to prevent contamination of your food, dishes, cookware, or personal items.
Provide Access & Parking
Make sure there’s a place to park and unload materials. If you live in a gated community or building with security, share access codes or elevator instructions ahead of time.
On Installation Day
Expect an Early Start
Most Certified Installers begin between 8:00–9:00am. They’ll confirm your project details, protect the workspace, and get started right away.
Secure Pets & Kids
Refacing involves sanding, painting, tools, and frequent movement. Keeping pets and children clear of the work zone helps everyone stay safe and focused.
Clear Pathways
Installers will be carrying in tools, doors, and spray equipment. Remove rugs, stools, or obstacles from halls and entryways leading to the kitchen.
Optional: Cover Nearby Furniture
Although dust control systems will be used, you may want to cover nearby electronics, dining tables, or art just outside the kitchen for added protection.
What Your Installer Will Do
Whether your installer is part of our Certified Installer Network or your own trusted pro, they will:
Remove and dispose of your existing cabinet doors and drawer faces
Prep and mask surrounding areas for dust and overspray control
Spray-finish or hand-coat your cabinet frames to match your chosen finish
Install nuDoors and drawer fronts from nuDoors with precise alignment
Make adjustments to hinges and handles for clean, consistent spacing
Do a full cleanup and walkthrough before wrapping up
After the Install
Final Walkthrough
The installer will walk through the finished space with you to ensure everything looks and functions as expected. Small adjustments can often be made on-site.
Allow Time to Cure
Our doors are fully cured, but the painted or sprayed cabinet frames will continue curing for 24–48 hours. Avoid heavy cleaning or reinstalling drawer contents during this time.
Cleaning & Care Tips
Your installer will provide care guidelines. In general, a soft cloth and gentle cleaner (like diluted dish soap) are all you need to keep your cabinet surfaces looking great.
Product Warranty for Peace of Mind
All nuDoors cabinet doors and drawer fronts come with a 5-Year Factory Warranty, covering craftsmanship and finish durability under normal indoor use.
Installation warranties may vary by installer. If you’re working with a nuDoors Certified Installer, we recommend asking about their personal warranty or service follow-up policy during your consultation.
